Psychology of Living with Parkinson’s Disease

Module Objectives:

  • What is it like to have PD?
  • What are the benefits of exercising in a group?
  • Understand how people with PD have difficulty expressing themselves.
  • How can you positively affect the lives of your participants?

These folks are having to deal with a very difficult and stressful life event. I have Parkinson’s disease. And I can assure you that the folks with Parkinson’s disease are going to be aware of that on a daily basis. During the time that they are on those bicycles cycling and talking with their friends, is probably going to be that part of the day that they are least aware of their Parkinson’s disease even though they are coming together as a group of Parkinson’s patients – Dr. Paul Fischman

Living with a chronic disease like Parkinson’s is difficult and the majority of people living with PD suffer with depression.  Your cycling class may possibly be the highlight of your participant’s day!
